How unmetered works

Move data without counting every terabyte.

Unmetered changes how traffic is included in the service. It does not remove the port speed or the practical limits between your server and the destination.
Traffic

No monthly transfer allowance

The listed unmetered options do not use a fixed monthly allowance such as 30TB or 100TB, so there is no per-TB overage calculation.
Port

The selected speed still matters

A 1Gbps, 10Gbps or 20Gbps port defines the connection rate available to the server. Faster ports provide more room for simultaneous transfers.

Real transfers depend on the full path

Storage, processor load, routing, protocol overhead and the remote network can all affect the speed reached by an individual transfer.

A practical starting point

What is an unmetered dedicated server?
An unmetered dedicated server is physical server hardware connected through a fixed-speed port without a monthly transfer allowance measured in terabytes. The selected port and applicable service terms still define how the connection can be used.
What is the difference between unmetered and unlimited bandwidth?
Unmetered means traffic is not counted against a fixed monthly transfer allowance. It does not mean infinite capacity: the server still uses a defined port speed, such as 1Gbps or 10Gbps.
Does unmetered mean every transfer reaches the full port speed?
No. The port speed is the connection rate available to the server. End-to-end throughput also depends on routing, protocol overhead, storage performance, processor load and the capacity of the remote network.
Which unmetered port speeds are available?
The current server range lists unmetered options at 1Gbps, 2Gbps, 10Gbps and 20Gbps. The exact choices depend on the selected configuration and are shown in the configurator.
Is there a monthly data transfer allowance?
The plans presented on this page do not use a fixed per-TB monthly allowance. The chosen port speed, server configuration and applicable service terms continue to apply.
Can I change the port speed later?
Available upgrades depend on the server and current network capacity. Open the configurator or contact us to confirm the port choices and price for the configuration you want.
Are unmetered dedicated servers managed or unmanaged?
They are unmanaged by default, so you control the operating system, applications and day-to-day administration. Managed help can be discussed separately when the required scope is clear.
